Publisher Ziff Davis closed the magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly.

Representatives of the publishing house Ziff Davis Media confirmed information on the closure of the magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM), says GameSpot. Issue of the publication, it was decided to stop after a number of January 2009. It also became aware that the publisher Ziff Davis sold the company network 1UP UGO Entertainment, part of the Hearst Corporation.
The deal has not yet been disclosed. In addition to the portal 1UP.com to UGO Entertainment switch sites GameVideos.com, MyCheats.com and GameTab.com. Note that while many journalists 1UP wrote a note in the EGM. However, the new owners of the portal were not interested in buying a newspaper.
It is not yet known what the consequences would entail the sale of network 1UP. According to some sources, UGO may dismiss more than half of the journalists. According to a rough estimate without work may be about 40 staff members 1UP.
The first issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly was released in March 1989. The edition published reviews, previews, news and notes about the video game industry. Note that this is not the first magazine to shut down the publisher Ziff Davis Media in the last couple of years.
