President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev gave an interview for the first time Russian publications - as Kommersant daily, they became "Novaya Gazeta".
Chief editor of "Novaya Gazeta" Dmitry Muratov told Kommersant that the interview which will be released April 15, lasted more than an hour. His main themes, according to Muratov, have civil society, human rights, bureaucracy, and independence of the courts.
Moreover, Medvedev spoke about his vision for a second criminal case of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev, and also answered questions "whether it is time to revive democracy in Russia" and "whether the president will come to a party."
According to the chief editor of "Novaya Gazeta", the idea to do an interview with the president was born on his meeting with Medvedev and former USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev on 29 January. This meeting was devoted to the murder in Moscow lawyer Stanislav Markelov and freelance correspondent for the publication of Anastasia Baburovoy on 19 January.
