To close the case the investigating authorities have informed the relatives Schekochihina. Son of journalist Konstantin Schekochihin said investigators decided to discontinue the investigation because it had not seen the criminal background of the death of Yuri Schekochihina. Yuri Schekochihin died on 3 July 2003 at the age of 54 years. The cause of death was described as a syndrome Layella - quite a rare allergic syndrome affecting the immune system and internal organs.
