Latvia refused to take part in "Eurovision-2009."

Guide Latvian Television (LTV) has decided not to participate in the musical "Eurovision", which will be held in Moscow in May 2009. This was reported on Wednesday, 17 December, the Latvian edition Nra.
The Director-General of LTV Edgar Kots explained that the decision was made to save money. Also Latvian television abandon filming of "price madness". Will be closed LTV correspondent bureau in Moscow and Brussels. Previously, it was reported that LTV budget for 2009 was reduced by 4.8 million U.S. dollars.
As the Latvian edition Gorod, to participate in the contest LTV would pay the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for the license until 14 December. The cost of licenses, according to the producer selection to the national competition Iveta Lepeshko, does not exceed 100 thousand lats (about 200 thousand U.S. dollars).
Agency DELFI explained that due to lack of license LTV will not be able not only to compete but also to broadcast.
Recall of "Eurovision-2009" held in Moscow from 1 to 16 May. At the last competition the first place was taken by the Russian singer Dima Bilan.
